Coming in the near future the ".com" and ".org" etc. will not be the only top level domains on the internet. Companies can now pay $185,000 just for the application to own a new TLD, such as ".sports". Some people are taking advantage of this and buying the TLD's that will most likely be popular. Then anyone that wants to use these have to pay the owner.
